A launch ceremony for the joint construction of demonstration industrial parks between the Shanxi Transformation and Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone and Xiaodian district of Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, was held on July 19. 

Founded in 2017, the Shanxi Transformation and Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone integrates four national and three provincial industrial parks in the cities of Taiyuan and Jinzhong. In the first half of 2022, the top 20 industrial enterprises in the zone achieved an output value of 81.28 billion yuan ($12.04 billion), a year-on-year increase of 25.53 percent. There are 447 provincial-level professional, innovative and competitive small and medium-sized enterprises with strong growth potential in specific industries there.

Xiaodian district in southern Taiyuan generated 142.52 billion yuan in GDP in 2021. The Shanxi Transformation and Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone's multiple industrial parks are located in the jurisdiction of Xiaodian. 

The two sides will combine their respective resources and industrial advantages to accelerate the agglomeration of industrial projects and promote the integrated development of industries.

The industrial parks currently under construction cover a total planned area of about 1.7 square kilometers and include emerging industrial parks and industrial parks for quality improvement and upgrading, according to Yuan Erming, top official of Xiaodian district. 

The former is focusing on developing strategic emerging industries and high-tech Industry while the latter is focusing on providing development space for high-quality enterprises, especially industrial enterprises above designated size, to upgrade their quality and expand their production capacity, he said.

Yuan added that professional, innovative and competitive enterprises, two large industrial leaders in different industrial chains and 50 enterprises in the upstream and downstream sections of industrial chains will be introduced.
