The Sport Bureau of Shanxi Province has launched six premier ice and snow tourism routes, marking a significant step in the province's efforts to integrate sports with tourism.
These newly introduced routes center around "ice and snow sports", creatively combining professional ski resorts with world-class cultural and natural attractions such as the Yungang Grottoes, Mount Wutai, the Great Wall, and the Yellow River.
The six distinct themes include "Snow Shines on the Great Wall", "Sporty Northern Shanxi", "Ancient City Ice and Snow Fun", "Yunqiu Mountain Icefall and Rime Encounter", "Panoramic Tour of Shanxi Mountains and Rivers", and "Taiyuan Ice and Snow Rendezvous".
The initiative aims to expand new scenarios for ice and snow sports, extending the activity space beyond traditional ski resorts to diverse cultural and natural landscapes. This offers more appealing snow sports options, supporting the goal of involving 300 million people in these activities.
By employing snow-related resources to build a complete industrial chain, these routes effectively connect sports training, event viewing, wellness leisure, cultural experiences, and unique accommodations, stimulating new vitality in sports consumption.
The routes also strive to establish a distinctive Shanxi sports tourism brand, promoting the unique image that "Shanxi offers more than just skiing", showcasing the province's majestic winter scenery and rich cultural heritage to visitors nationwide.
