Introduction
Donetsk is the fifth-largest city in Ukraine. A major coal producer, it also features prominent iron and steel, chemical, and mining machinery sectors. The city hosts several universities and research institutes, and maintains a green, pleasant urban environment despite its industrial scale.

Founded in the second half of the 19th century alongside railway construction, coal mining, and steel development, its major industries include coal, metallurgy, agricultural machinery, and metal processing.

The city’s nine administrative districts are linked by efficient tram and bus services, with well-developed air and rail connections.
Culture and Education
Donetsk is one of the largest cultural centers in Ukraine, featuring 22 architecturally significant monuments, over 200 historical sculptures, 3 theaters, 53 cultural palaces, and numerous other cultural facilities. It has 156 state-run secondary educational institutions, 7 specialized training centers, 16 state higher education institutions, and 1 auxiliary educational facility.
