Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, is situated on the southwestern tip of the Republic of Korea, covering an area of 910.43 square kilometers with a population of approximately 280,000. It serves as a transportation hub in eastern Jeollanam-do, 300 kilometers from Seoul and 150 kilometers from Busan.

Its major industries include the service sector, mining, manufacturing, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries.

A premier eco-tourism city, Suncheon is home to key attractions such as Suncheon Bay National Garden, Suncheon Bay Wetland, the World Heritage-listed Nagan Eupseong Folk Village, and film studios. It boasts the first national garden in the Republic of Korea.

The city hosts a comprehensive education system comprising 3 universities, 1 graduate school, 16 high schools, 21 middle schools, 41 elementary schools, 62 kindergartens, and other private educational institutions. Recognized as a highly livable city with a stunning natural environment, Suncheon is also an ancient civilized city preserving numerous cultural heritage sites, including Songgwangsa Temple (one of Korea’s Three Major Temples), Seonamsa Temple, and Nagan Eupseong.
