Introduction
Founded in the 2nd century BC, Viseu is the capital of the Viseu District and an important agricultural and educational center for the region. The district boasts mineral resources such as tungsten and tin, as well as a solid industrial base, with well-developed sectors including textiles, automotive, agro-processing, and information technology.
Industry
The city's industry focuses on the processing and production of leather, butter, and flour. Visabeira, a prominent Portuguese multinational corporation, operates across telecommunications, construction, industry, tourism, real estate, and services. Goucam, a well-known textile and clothing manufacturer and exporter, also produces personal protective equipment.
Agriculture
Viseu is a major agricultural distribution center, renowned for its wine production.

Education
The city is home to several higher education institutions, including the Viseu Polytechnic Institute.
Tourism

The most famous landmark is the Viseu Cathedral, built in the 13th century in Romanesque and Gothic styles. Regarded as one of Portugal's finest buildings, it contains splendid decorations and a rich collection of religious artifacts.
The Grão Vasco Museum, named after the most important Portuguese painter of the Renaissance, Vasco Fernandes, is housed in the former Bishop's Palace and is one of Portugal's leading art museums.
Praça da República (Republic Square) is the heart of the city. Parque Aquilino Ribeiro, named after the writer Aquilino Ribeiro, serves as the city's green lung.
